I’m sure you’ve heard many astrologers speak about Full Moons in Pisces or Cancer or Gemini. If your Sun sign is in Leo, you may have disregarded this thinking that the Full Moon will only affect the sign that it’s in. However, you actually have every single zodiac sign in your astrology birth chart, just in different houses. This means it will affect you! But what are these houses?
When you were born, astrologers took a picture of the sky to see where each constellation was. They then took that picture and fit it into a circle and cut it up into 12 different slices to represent areas of life that they seem to correlate to. These are called houses.
So, whenever we have a planet passing from one house to another, we will notice that that planet’s energy will affect our lives differently because it moves from one life theme to the next. For example, the first house is related to your identity, the second is related to your finances and values, the third is related to communication and your neighborhood, and so on.

Each constellation, represented by a zodiac sign, will fall into one of these houses. It’s not always as neatly organized as that because some houses can be smaller than others, however, you can always distinguish which house is the predominant one by looking at the house “cusp”. The cusp is really just the first line of the house, which you can spot on your chart.

If we go back to our school days in Geometry class, we can see that a circle is 360 degrees, so 12 slices of a circle means each piece would be 30 degrees. So, each house in astrology is generally 30 degrees wide, meaning it will have 30 degrees of a zodiac sign in it. This is not always the case because, as I said earlier, houses can vary in size depending on when you were born.
When you want to spot where a Full Moon, New Moon, or eclipse takes place in your chart, you can simply look at the zodiac sign and degree that moon is happening at and find that point on your chart. Whichever house that sign and degree falls in would indicate which area of life will be affected for you.
For example, the Full Moon that happened on February 9, 2020 at 20° of Leo happened in my 5th house of creative self-expression, dating, romance, kids, travel, and fun. So in order for me to interpret this, I need to mix together the meaning of the Moon phase, the house it’s taking place in in my chart, and lastly, the energy of that zodiac sign.
Full Moons are about culminations and seeing what is working and what isn’t. It allows us to see how far we’ve come and what we need to release as we move forward. I already mentioned what the 5th house means, and the sign Leo is all about living from the heart and truly showing up the world in a way that feels good to you on a soul level. It’s also about being a leader for others.
During this time, I was feeling a real urge to get real about how I was going to make my dreams of creating a business astrology course come to life. I had been procrastinating and waiting, and it was around the time of this Full Moon that I realized it was time for me to step up and be the Leo leader I needed to be in order to fulfill my dreams. It was this Full Moon that made me realize that I had to kick the self-doubt to the curb and actually take action in order to lead from the heart.

As you can see, learning how to understand where the Moon will affect your life will help you know what to focus on during that time. Now that you know what area of your life the Moon will affect, the next step is to learn what each Moon phase means and how to harness that energy to manifest your dream life. You can learn that by reading my Manifest with the Moon article here.
